A test order is the last step of setup. It checks the whole flow: the gift form on your store, the gift card Giftora creates, and the email the recipient gets.
Place the order
- Open your gift card product on your storefront.
- Choose a value and fill in the gift form. Use your own email as the recipient so you receive the gift email.
- Complete checkout.
To avoid paying, you can use Shopify's test payment options (for example the Bogus Gateway on a development store, or test mode in Shopify Payments).
What happens next
- On a development or test store, Giftora issues the gift card and the setup step turns green.
- On a live store, test orders are put On hold instead of issuing a real card. Go to Gift cards, open the held order and issue it to finish this step.
The gift email is sent based on your Gift email timing in Settings → Gift cards. If timing is When the whole order is fulfilled, fulfill the test order to send the email. Learn about timing
Check the result
- In Gift cards, the order shows the card value, its status and a history of each step.
- In your inbox, check the gift email and the code.
- At checkout, the code works like any Shopify gift card.
If something doesn't look right
- Card is On hold: check the Dashboard. Selling is off until every required step is done.
- Email didn't arrive: check spam, then open the card in Gift cards to see its delivery status. You can resend the email from there.
