Giftora lets your customers buy a digital gift card on your store and send it to someone by email, on the date they choose. This guide walks you through setup from install to your first sale.
Most stores finish in about 15 minutes.
Before you start
- You need a Shopify store with the Online Store sales channel.
- Install Giftora from the Shopify App Store, then open it from Apps in your Shopify admin.
Your setup checklist
When you open Giftora, the Dashboard shows a Ready to sell checklist. Each step turns green when it's done.
- Create your gift card product. Add the product and the fixed values customers can buy. Read the guide
- Turn on the gift card form in your theme. Customers fill in the recipient, message and delivery date on your product page. Read the guide
- Block gift cards as payment. Stops customers from using a gift card to buy another gift card. Read the guide
- Set up the delivery email. Add your logo, colors and message, then send yourself a test. Read the guide
- Place a test order. Buy your gift card once to check that everything works. Read the guide
When can customers buy?
Giftora starts issuing gift cards once these are done:
- your gift card product is created and available on your Online Store;
- shipping and tax are off for every value;
- gift card payment blocking is on;
- your delivery email is saved.
Until then, the Dashboard shows Selling is off, and gift card orders are put On hold instead of being issued. You can review held orders in Gift cards and issue each one yourself.
The theme step and the test order are strongly recommended, but they don't block selling.
What happens after a sale
- A customer buys your gift card and fills in the gift form.
- Giftora creates a Shopify gift card for the value they paid.
- Giftora emails the gift to the recipient, either right away, when the order is fulfilled, or on the date the buyer chose. You choose the timing in Settings → Gift cards. Read the guide
- The recipient uses the code at your checkout like any Shopify gift card.
You can follow every card in Gift cards: its status, its delivery history, and actions like resending the email or changing the recipient.
